Got Twins?

I don't, but I am hoping someone in Japan does!  I played in my first sew-along, but in my traditional style I had to change it slightly.  Like the fact that I was unable to sew-along for the three days, but I was able to stay up and finish them in one night.  Oh, and I wanted to do onesies, but did not want to scale the pattern down.  That resulted in complimenting onesies.  So without further mumblings, here are my version of Chloe & Mieko!

Aren't they adorable.  Check out this post to see other versions....

Tropical Joy

This is not your grandmother's chenille blanket.  There is a great tutorial at Aesthetic Nest.  Here are some pictures of the process.
After several hours and a spool and a half of thread I finally had all my lines sewn.
Here you can see the channels being cut.  I think is looks like rows of crops,
 Or waves in the sea.
The above picture is what I had finished when it was time to get the big girl from school.
The binding is done.  Now it needs to be washed.
After being washed and dried it looks like rows of rainbow sherbet.
It was fun, easy and time consuming to make, but I will definitely be making another one.

Meet George

My grandfather named all monkeys George and I have carried that on.  So, here is George.  He finished the quilt top and now I just need to quilt and bind it.

On another note, there are a few more canopies in my ETSY store.

First Date

Since I brought Willie G. home to live with me I thought we better see how well we get along.  Tonight was our first date.  He kept me out way too late, but we had a great time.  Here is what we made together.

And to think that it all started with this.  I do see this relationship lasting a really long time.

Who wants to play?

I found this great sew-along that benefits the children in Japan and figured it was something I could do.  I am planning on participating, will you???  Good cause, cute pattern, and sewing.  What else could you want???

Imagine

Yes, that's right.  I was given a Baby Lock Imagine.

Isn't he handsome.  This is Willie G.  (people name their cars, laptops and such so I figured I could name my serger).  And he came with the cabinet, but I had to paint it black.  (wink wink)
Oh, Willie G. also came with 44, count them, 44 spools of thread.
I also received a boat load of buttons, but I will save the pictures for another time.
Thank You Grandma!

What a Week

Do you ever have those weeks where you can't wait to start a new one?  You just can't get out of the current one fast enough?  Maybe if you just go to sleep you can wake up in a new week?  That is/was my week.  Needless to say, I have not had time to create.  Not that I haven't wanted to, but the time has just not been there.  I am hoping that Monday will be different.
However, I did find some fun fabrics at a thrift store today that I thought I would share with both of you.  The first one is a flannel and the last two are home decorating fabrics.  I have plans for these guys.  Big plans...

Off the Couch

Today was the first day in the last several that I felt like creating.  Three of my kiddo's came down with illness and I too was fighting something.  I actually had some energy today.  So I brainstormed.  There are not a whole lot of crafting gifts for men out there and with my Dad's birthday and Father's day coming up I knew I couldn't wing it.  I do have some ideas now, but I will share them in a later post.  I did get the rotary cutter out and prepared some carseat covers....
I worked on a quilt top...
I also worked on some new quilt designs while watching Doctor Who with my not-so-little, little girl.  It felt so great to make some progress on something.

Batting & Backing & Binding

Oh my!
Here is my finished Cafe' Baby quilt
I quilted in between the windows on the front and did 1/4 inch lines on the outside polka-dots.  Leaving the teal un-quilted because I did not want to make it hard to read.  I love the way this turned out.

A Quilt Show

Yesterday I had planned to go to the Northwest Quilters Quilt Show with a friend, but on the way to her house my youngest got sick in the car.  The thought did cross my mind of just putting him in the stroller and going anyway, but I decided that would not be in his best interest.
I was looking forward to seeing some beautiful quilts, but that was not to be.  So, I then decided that I would make my own quilt show.  Here are some links to my favorite quilts and quilters...

My favorite right now is anything by Don't look now!
Oh, Fransson! is a tried and true favorite.  I love her style.
This quilt, by Piece N Quilt, is on my to-do list

This is all I have time to post as the sick three are needing me now.  Enjoy the eye candy...

Multitasking

As I was sitting down to quilt my Cafe' Baby, I started to think.  What do you do while you craft and create?  I will often open the laptop and listen to Pandora, watch a movie, or find a podcast.  I can't create in silence.  Fortunately for me I have children.  Sometimes I just sit at the sewing machine and listen to them play.  Last night, I sat down to sew in-between different steps of dinner.  I know a lot of crafters, but I don't know the environment in which they create.  I was just curious as to what makes you create.

Cafe' Baby

I have finished the top of my cathedral quilt that I am naming Cafe' Baby.  Now it is time to pick out the backing and binding!! Brown or Red?  So many decisions.

The Carrot

Does anyone else have to dangle a carrot to get things done??

Not only Fabric

I was able to exercise my creative juices in another realm today.  I had a young lady come over today and we spent some time with paper, stamps, feathers & other fun paper crafting supplies.  Here is what our 45 minutes produced...

There is much more that will be added to this little book we are working on and I pray the lady who receives it will find it a blessing.

What I'm Sewing

Just in case you are wondering if I have been sewing lately, the answer is a very definite 'YES!'.  Since creating my first carseat canopy, I have created 4 more for sale!  Well, to be honest, one is a custom order, so it is not really for sale any more.  Here are some pictures of what I have been working on...

My ETSY Store

I just wanted to let you all two of you know that I have opened an ETSY store.  There is a link on the sidebar.  I will be listing things that I have made with my own two hands.  EXCITING.  Maybe someone will even buy something!!  Hmm.  What to do with my up and coming big payday...
...my options are endless!
