Tuesday

I have been crafting and sewing lately, but I have not been putting everything up.  I figured I would save some things until I have them all completed.  Until then, you get to see some of what is filling in the gaps.

A sweet little drawstring bag (made from a curtain panel already appliqued) for a carnival can set.

and two more thesaurus wreaths have been made.

Featured on Friday

As I am an ETSYian, I thought Fridays would be a good time to feature other ETSYians.  For my first Friday, I decided to do something beloved in my family... Doctor Who!!!

Tools on Tuesday

As I was working on some projects last night, I was pondering the tools I like and the ones I don't really care for.  I thought I would share one of them today.

THE CUTTING EDGE RULERS

I really, really like these rulers.  I have several different rulers in my collection that I have picked up along the years, but I really like love this one!  They have this nifty sharpening edge that sharpens your blade as you cut.  I am not sure how well that works, or if you need that, but there is one thing I do know.  THEY DON'T SLIP!  Now, I am no professional when it comes to rulers.  I am sure that when you work with a ruler long enough that you learn how to use it properly, however, I am not that patient.  I don't want to learn how to hold a ruler so that it doesn't slip and cause you to cut too much off a 2" strip.  I don't want to add scraps to my basket unnecessarily.  I want the ruler to do what it is made to do.  STAY PUT with ONE hand.  That is what this ruler is for me.  No learning curves, no upper body contortions to get it to stay where I want it, just a happy lady with a rotary cutter in her hand!

So, what tools are indispensable to you???

WIP Wednesday

I finished this baby set today while staying home with ill kid-lets once again.  It consists of a carseat canopy, a matching 38 x 40 inch blanket and a therapeutic neck wrap, in a refreshing mint scent, for the new mommy.

I also just HAD to get out of the house.  So the kids and I walked to the school next door and tried to take a picture of a quilt top I just finished.  I had my 4-year-old take the picture while my daughter and I tried to hold it in place during a very blustery period of time.

My Monday

Monday's are my day to catch up.  Seems that weekend activities make staying home all the more needed.  I did, however, finish up some crafts and photograph some already finished ones this weekend.  I also took some time to play with Willie G. a little more.

Here is the quilt I made for my mom for her b-day and mothers' day.  It is made with flannel shirts from my grandfather, who passed away earlier this year.

This is a carseat canopy that was a special order.  The criteria was camo and moose.  I just fell in love with this guy!

Oh, and here is a picture of my little guy, who wanted his picture taken while I was taking some others.

More Wreath Love...

Here are two of the thesaurus wreaths that Claudia and I have been making.  I think they look like hyacinth blossoms from far a way.  These two have gone to some mothers in my life.

I have also been working on my mom's quilt, which I 'gave' to her yesterday.  I still have some binding to tack down and then she will get it again.  Pictures are coming soon!

Check out Kelly's giveaway

My friend Kelly is having a giveaway.  I would encourage you all to go over and check her out at Sew Kelly Sews.

Sew Kelly Sews...: 1 and a 100

Do you ever...

find someone so inspiring that you want to share them with your closest friends?  Well, there have been several blogs that I just love to get ideas from lately so I thought I would share with you!
First up, Oh Fransson!
She has wonderful eye-catching, modern quilts.  Her blog is chopped full of tips, tutorials and other info.  She also teaches classes on occasion here in the Portland area!  Not to mention her beautiful book, The Practical Guide to Patchwork

For those of you who don't quilt, there is another blog that has made it to my favorites...
MADE.
She has wonderful tutorials of all sorts.  With nearly 9000 followers, I am sure that you are probably already loving her work, but just in case, check her out!

Now there are two other blogs that I have been enjoying.  They are crafting competition blogs.  Who would have thunk!
The first one is called So You Think Your Crafty.  Every ten weeks a new set of crafters fight it out for top prize.  And, you get to vote for your favorites!  They give tutorials and lots of ideas from many crafters at once!  A great place to find other cool crafters!!!

The other one is called 1 Month 2 Win It.  It has the same concept as SYTYC, but just a little different format with more people getting voted off the island every week.
That being said, I hope you all go check out these fun blogs, get some more inspiration and CREATE.

I would love to hear what blogs you frequent to get information and inspiration!  Just comment below or link up with your own post of ideas!

Burlap and Blossoms

Here is a wreath that I made last week.  It took longer than I anticipated to glue on all that burlap, but well worth the effort...
