Cedar Christmas Wreath
I brought home some cedar rounds from my trip to Tennessee knowing that a wreath of some capacity would be born. After searching the internet I came up with, nothing. So they sat. First on the patio, then in the dining room. then in the craft room, then back to the dining room. All in an attempt to keep them on my mind so I could try and figure out what to do. Then it finally happened. I decided that I was going to make the wreath. I would just figure it out. No end plan. No idea how. After SEVERAL hours and a couple movies, I was satisfied. Here the finished product...
To make this wreath all you need is some cedar rounds, a wire wreath frame and a trip to the dollar store for two rolls of ribbon, a box of bells, an ornament for the center a drill, scissors, bendable wire and some food (this is going to take some time). I drilled two holes in each round and secured them to the wire frame one at a time until I had two rows. I then added ribbon to the center, then the bells and bow. Finished with attaching an ornament in the center and viola! A beautiful wreath and a huge mess was laying on my table!

I am sure that both of you have been wondering where I have been. Or maybe you thought I gave up sewing and crafting. Well, I am not sure where I have been, but I have been busy. Here are a few things that I have done since I last checked in...
My new purse for fall. (not the best picture, but you get the idea)
A new cape for a birthday boy...
A finished bag by my sewing student...
and a cape that my dear daughter told me she needed.
Oh, and I also finished this little quilt. Better pictures to come when it goes in my ETSY shop!
I will try to post a little sooner next time!

The Craft Room
Since I came home from Tenneessee, I have had great plans on how to make my space more 'Sarah' friendly. I then decided to take on the giant task of re-arranging my entire house. I did have to borrow some muscles to help move my ginormous tv, but other than that I managed the rest by myself. I moved my entire bedroom up and the play room down. Moved the kids beds about and am now left with piles to try and find a home for. My craft room is not complete yet, but are they ever??? It was a nice quiet place while the kidlets slept this morning.
Last night I had to use this messy little space. Here is a glimpse of what I finished.
Stay tuned for more!!!

Summer Vacation
This summer 3 of my children and I went to Tennessee to visit family! I have to say it was the best 2 weeks of the year and I shed a tear or two when it was over. We have been home for almost a week now and I think that I am going to have a day to create. Vacations are bitter sweet. You get to lay out by the pool and read, but you have to leave your craft room (not that I have a room, but rather several spots in several rooms) at home.

Farmer's Wife Quilt Along - Weeks 8 & 9
It is almost as if life was trying to get in the way of my quilt along. What? I don't think so! OK, so maybe I chose to go hiking, go shopping and play with my kids instead of breaking out the sewing machine, but still.
Anyway, I sat down and did these four blocks and fell in love with quilting even more. Is that possible?
Without further ado, here you go!

Fun on Friday
Jessica from How about Orange posted a link to a great quiz. So, after taking it and having the quiz nail my style completely, I thought I would share it with you!
Enter the HomeGoods stylescope quiz. A quick and fun quiz that will tell you what your style is, how to make it work for you and what your happy home colors are!!
In case you are interested, I am Country Classic. I like things organized, yet inviting and my happy home colors are yellows and oranges. Oh, and I may enjoy layering different fabrics and patterns to make my home more inviting and I need throw pillows. I should get on that!
So, what are you??

Rescued
"The Constitution only gives people the right to pursue happiness. You have to catch it yourself." ~B. Franklin
Well, I caught me some happiness today! I had to share my new found gem, SCRAP, with my dear friend. Upon going today, just two days after discovery, I found all new treasures!!
Here is what I caught...
$10 worth of unfinished quilt pieces that someone just threw away. To them I would like to say, "Thank you!"

SCRAP
After taking a sewing class yesterday, my teacher told me about SCRAP. She said it is a donation based place where you can find all sorts of things. I was then interested and being that I was childless for the afternoon, the adventurer in me won out.
Needless to say, I was not disappointed. It is very well organized. A venture like this could easily get out of hand, but the people of SCRAP do a fantastic job on keeping things under control. Now, if you are looking for a nice clean feel, DO NOT come here. But if you are looking for a fun, unexpected treasure hunt, look here.
The saying that kept coming to my mind is,
"One man's trash is another man's treasure."
Like this used tea bag dress. AMAZING!! Who would have thunk??
If you can't make it to the store, check out the SCRAP website. This tells you everything you could possibly want to know and more.
Do you know of any rare jewels that I should know about in the Portland, OR area? I would love to check them out!

Speechless
Yesterday I taught my first kids quilting class. I have a class size of one, but she is not from my immediate family, so that is huge! I am so excited and thankful for the opportunities that knock on my door.
On another note, I was browsing through blog land and noticed I was featured on So You Think You're Crafty! Can you believe it! Someone featured me. Little ole me! I am honored, and speechless! You can check it our here... SYTYC.

Dog Sitting
My mom got this new little girl recently and we have the privilege of watching her on occasion.
She is so much fun and the kidlets love her. The great part is, she gets to go home. This must be what being a grandparent it like!
Farmer's Wife Quilt-a-Long - wk 6
Look who's caught up!!! Not only that I already have one square done for next week!!! I can blame that on these little squares being so much fun! Here are this week's squares...
#4 Basket weave
As I have said before, I know pretty much nothing about my fabrics, but I do know that these ones are not modern! That being said, I love this block. I love how this reminds me of sweet ladies I knew when I was little!
#92 Streak of Lightning
This one is sideways, but you get the idea, right?
